This last week I have been cleaning up tornado debris. I got a call from the county emergency management asking if I could go to the near by town and help out with the clean up from the area hit by the tornado last week. So I have been out there since tuesday cleaning up debris.
My boots gave me blisters on my heals on tuesday and I have some serous blisters now, blisters on blisters :P. I didn't go in to help today there isn't much left to except for big equipment work. They said about 400 people were being bussed in today and not sure what they will do. So they said to me go rest this weekend you have been here all week and call on monday to see if there is anything left. This week was an eye opener, I have never seen first hand what damage a f4 tornado can do. It's amazing that no one was killed. And how strange to see one house destroyed and the house next to it with minor damage. They zig zag path. We were so lucky that when the tornado had skipped us. We have no basement, so we go into the guest bathroom which is in the center of house. I guess if we get hit we can kiss our ass goodbye. I am hoping the worst of the storms this year are gone.
The hail damage from the storm a few weeks ago left us with thousands of dollar's worth of damage.
I have much work that needs to be done around the house today. With me being gone everyday my yard has been neglected, So I will be weeding garden and mowing today. Laundry must be done house needs a cleaning. My back is hurting from the work I did and my neck is jacked but its always jacked up. I need then to do another mri on it I am having some nerve symptoms now, sharp pain running down arm ect. Plus the pain is much worse.
Well off I go do get started, I am dragging ass today ;)
In the past couple weeks we have had some very serous storms. We had a tornado warning. We spend about 40 minutes in the bathroom waiting to be hit tonight. The tornado retreated up then touched down 1 mile west of us and hit the neighboring town of Manhattan which is about 11 mile from us. I only heard a howling noise. This tornado was reported to be a 1/4 mile wide. We are very prepared for a tornado. We have a jump bag with basic survival supplies. Then I have my CERT bag I was given since I am on the county emergency response team. I keep them easy to grab. So I started putting things in the bathroom when we heard that the tornado was in a town about 40 miles away. Put my canary is there. Gizmo my parrot refused to leave his cage to get into the pet carrier. The jerk wouldn't even get on my hand so I could take him to the bathroom. I had to chase down hercules and throw him in the bathroom. Inga and Tasha are easy they know something is wrong and follow you everywhere. So they went in with us to wait to see if we were going to be hit. We luck out this time.
This is the second time in a week that we have been under tornado warning last on we had 3 in our county. But this one came close.
After the treat had passed I went out side to look around heard a big truck going up and down neighboring streets. It was the fire dept truck. They must be looking for damage who knows.
